Can you help us vision our future?

Dear Mount Royal Academy Community,

It’s not often that I take the time and opportunity to address the school and its community.  I’d like to begin by saying that I’m extremely proud of our school, the MRA community (Board, Administration, Teachers, Students and Families) and how we’ve not only weathered the last couple of years but have set the example and lead our community.

With the philosophy that “there is always room for improvement” and that it is better to be proactive rather than reactive, the Board has decided that we should review and update the schools long-term “Strategic Plan”.  Through this process, we will identify our long-term goals and the strategy to obtain them.  We have begun the strategic planning process by establishing a Strategic Plan Committee.  Bernie Towne, one of our board members, is the chair of this committee.  We have further assigned the following five sub-committees:

  1. Mission

  2. Educational Philosophy & Academic Life

  3. Recruitment, Retention and Formation of Faculty

  4. Student Life and School Culture

  5. Operational Vitality, Financial Management, Administrative Structure and Facilities.

Each sub-committee is led by a Board Member.  The sub-committee will coordinate and hold an analysis meeting with constituents which could provide relevant information for gathering pertinent community input via surveys, public meetings, etc.  Once all input has been gathered, the sub-committees will formulate and present their recommendations to the Strategic Plan Committee and Board.  We hope to have this accomplished this calendar year.

As I indicated above, the Strategic Plan Committee will be soliciting assistance and input from the Mount Royal Academy community over the coming months.  We look forward to jointly building this Strategic Plan which should help guide us into the coming years.
