Tis' the Season of Advent

Dear Families,

Earlier this week, I was reading some excerpts from Pope Francis’s Angelus address on the first Sunday of Advent.  He said that in Advent “we are called to enlarge the horizons of our hearts, to be surprised by the life that is presented each day with its newness.”  It is easy to see why Advent, as we prepare for the birth of the Christ Child, is conducive to appreciating the preciousness and possibilities of life.

At Mount Royal, several annual events are held in celebration of the season of Advent.  Students will put out their shoes for a visit from St. Nicholas on December 6, receive a visit complete with songs and treats from the Kindergarten class to celebrate the feast of St. Lucy on December 13, and earn tickets throughout the month to shop for family members at Santa’s Workshop on December 21.

We hope your family will join us for Lessons and Carols at La Salette Shrine in Enfield on Saturday, Dec. 17.  Students in grades 1-7, under the direction of Mrs. Yost, will join our high school sacred choir for the school’s annual Christmas pageant.  Fr. Sullivan will say Mass at 6:30 p.m. and, combined with the beautiful light display at La Salette, this makes for a meaningful family Advent experience.

As always, it will be a busy few weeks leading up to Christmas break, so please reach out if you have questions on anything taking place.

Sincerely,

Katie Richardson

Vice Principal
