We are pleased to announce that we have been awarded a 2020 Pope St. John Paul II Award for Teaching Ethics grant of $1,500. This grant allows us to integrate the new book by Professor Vaclav Rajlich entitled, How to Live a Good Life Following New Testament Ethics. The book draws heavily from the landmark encyclical Veritatis Splendor to outline a practical approach to living Catholic moral principles. We are honored to receive this prestigious award.

Modern man suffers from a gravely impoverished view of human morality that often leads to erroneous and damaging conclusions about human dignity and destiny. The abandonment of natural law and objective truth in favor of ideologies based in relativism has caused a dramatic degrading of the concepts of human freedom,dignity, and happiness. The world is ripe with moral controversies, and it is vitally important to utilize the objective truths that are espoused by Catholic morality in order to engage these serious issues.

Pope St. John Paul II issued the encyclical, Veritatis Splendor, in1993 in order to correct modern errors about Catholic morality and proclaim the saving message of Jesus Christ to the modern world. It is a profound and insightful work that requires serious study. This new book will help high school students engage the moral teaching of the Church and relate it to everyday life.

We are grateful to the National Association of Private Catholic and Independent Schools (NAPCIS) for creating this grant opportunity along with Professor Rajlich. We are looking forward to embarking on this study with the class of 2022 in September.
