Mount Royal Academy Launches Violin Program

Mar 7, 2016

A large Vermont Violins truck was seen unloading at 26 Seven Hearths Lane recently; thirty-three new violins were delivered into the eager hands of Mount Royal Academy students, grades Pre-Kindergarten to Sixth Grade.  This group of selected students will be training to play as an orchestra under the tutelage of nationally acclaimed Suzuki violin master, Alicia Casey, Program Coordinator at the Upper Valley Music Center, Lebanon.

“I am thrilled to be able to work with the Mount Royal Academy to start a Strings in Schools program right in Sunapee. The Upper Valley Music Center’s mission is to provide and promote the best in music education.  While we provide an excellent range of classes on campus in Lebanon, NH, we also offer programs off site such as our strings in school program. We feel strongly that all families should have access to music education regardless of location or financial restrictions and because of this both providing tuition assistance and off site programs are a big priority for us. I am excited to get to know the students at Mount Royal Academy and to help them make music,” says Casey.

Vermon Violins also added, “We are so proud to support the initiation of a strings program at Mount Royal Academy.  The inclusion of violin strings in any academic program is significant in fostering a love for the spirit of music that binds us together as a community and we are hopeful that such instruction will create another generation of appreciators and players of this form of music.   The faculty at M.R.A., working in partnership with the fine teachers of the Upper Valley Music Center, are bringing all the right energy and talents to the table to create what will undoubtedly be a fabulous, and long-lived, program that will enhance our community and these children’s complete education.  We are joyful to be a part of it and can’t wait to attend the first recital!”
